This test is used to help a cardiologist determine any issues with a patient’s heart by monitoring the heart’s electrical signals. By using electrodes that are attached to the patient, an EKG can note any irregularities in the heart’s rhythm. With an EKG, current or recent heart attacks become apparent, along with any blockages, thickened heart walls, electrolyte imbalances, or changes to the heart after taking medication.
