Aortic Stenosis is diagnosed by an aortic valve (found in the heart) that does not open properly, thus reducing blood flow to the body. This can be caused by various factors, such as age, a build up of calcium in the valve, radiation therapy, medication side effects, high cholesterol, or a history of rheumatic fever. Some symptoms of this condition include:
- Chest pain or tightness
- Shortness of breath
- Fatigue or tiredness
- Faintness
- Heart palpitations or heart murmur
Our treatment for this condition involves using medication to prevent blood clots or to control irregular heartbeats, balloon valvuloplasty, aortic valve replacement, or transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
